OHTF Golden Eagles Split Up to Earn a Top 5 at Goshen Relays & 6th Place at Frankfort Invite - Elzinga Along with Scott, David, Hernandez, & Zwirn Earn 1st Place Medals at Goshen

The OHTF Golden Eagles split their squad up Saturday competing in both the Goshen Relays as well as the Frankfort Invitational. Despite spreading the varsity out over two locations the Golden Eagles still managed a solid Top 5 Finish at the 16 team 82nd Annual Goshen Relays and a respetable 6th at the Frankfort Hot Dog Invitational. Unlike the girls the boys did compete in a small school division at Goshen scoring 51 points to eventual Champion and State Top 20 Ranked Westview's 85. The Golden Eagles earned 2 1st Place Event Champions on the day with Sophomore Luke Elzinga claiming the title in the Long Jump and the 4x100 Relay of Seniors Reese Hernandez and Seth David along with Sophomore Jalen Scott and Freshman Jesse Zwirn won in a season best time. The Golden Eagles added 2 additional 3rd place finishes and 4 Top 5 Finishes. Individually their best non-champion finish came from Senior Drew Elzinga in the 110 Meter Hurdles. Classmate Thane Jones added a 4th in the Shot Put. Scott made the final in the 100 Meter Dash with the events 2nd fastest time but due to an illness had to scratch from the event. The Intermediate Sprint Medley Relay of David and Zwirn along with Junior Corban Tippey and Senior Lance Wyrick took 3rd overall for the Golden Eagle's next best relay finish. The Golden Eagles also posted Top 5 Relay finishes in the Distance Medley and 4x800 Meter Relay while adding a 5th in the 4x400 Meter Relay. The DMR consisted of Seniors Owen Middlesworth and Morshown Cotton along with Tippey and Junior Caden Myers. Middlesworth, Tippey, and Myers joined Senior Lance Wyrick on the 4x8. The 4x4 was Wyrick, both Elzingas, and Cotton. At Frankfort the Golden Eagles best finish came from a Runner Up placement in the 3200 Meter Run by Freshman Josh Clark. In all the Golden Eagles also posted 4 more Top 5 Finishes. Individually those came from Senior Micah McKinney in the 300 Meter Hurdles and Sophomore Meyer Middlesworth in the Pole Vault both taking 4th while Junior Elik Leak in the 1600 Meter Run and the 4x800 Meter Relay of Leak, Senior Owen Roth, Junior Marc Caritos, and Freshman Christian Smiley were 5th. Freshman Bret Hueston scored in the 1600 Meter Run behind Leak in 6th while the 4x400 Mere Relay of Caritos, McKinney, Smiley, and Leak took 6th to close out the meet. The Golden Eagles are back in action Tuesday at Madison Grant against the Argylls and Blackford.
