Softball (Girls V) Scores

Oak Hill suffered a tough loss against conference team Mississinewa. The Eagles and Indians went back and forth with scoring runs up until the 8th inning of the game. Mississinewa scored first in the 2nd inning, but the Eagles were quick to answer with a run of their own in the bottom of the 2nd. It was a solo home run by Liz Godfrey. The Indians scored 2 more runs to put them ahead 3-1 in the 3rd inning. Then in the top of the 5th inning, Mississinewa scored 3 more runs with the help of some hits and an error to make the score 6-1. The Eagles weren't going down without a fight. Lex Myers was able to start it off with a little blooper over the second baseman followed by a single by Jolee Hawkins. Karsyn Wiley came up and hit a shot into left field to score both Myers and Hawkins. Madison Archer drew a walk and Pathis Speicher hit a double to score 1 run. Liz Godfrey got up and hit a bomb over left center field fence for a 3 run homer taking the lead 7-6. Neither team scored in the 6th. Top of the 7th Mississinewa was able to score 1 run off 2 hits to tie the ball game. The Lady Eagles were unable to score bottom of the 7th. Top of the 8th, after walking the first batter, Oak Hill middle infield was able to turn a double play to get 2 outs. But an error allowed the next batter to advance to first and allowed 2 more runs to score after back to back hits by Mississinewa. The Eagles were able to load the bases in the bottom of the 8th to get back those 2 runs, but came up short. L. Myers went 3-5 J. Hawkins went 3-5. L. Godfrey went 2-3 with 4 RBIs and 2 runs scored. Karsyn Wiley pitched 4 innings for the Eagles allowing 8 hits, 2 strike outs and 3 runs scored. Pathie Speicher pitched the last 4 innings and allowed 9 hits and had 2 strike outs.
