OHJHXC Teams Race in Competitive Large School Field at New Haven - Blair Wins Sets Another Course Record

The OHJHXC teams traveled to Huntington University Saturday to compete in the ultra competitive New Haven Classic and had to race in the 25+ "large school" division, a pair of races that featured almost 400 runners in each race. 8th Grader Brantley Blair for the 5th Straight week won a major invitational individual championship and set an another impressive course record in the process. The New Haven Classic 3,000 Meter course record was set last year at 9:41. Saturday Blair won the the race in 9:22. Blair, who will compete for an Indiana Middle School State Championship next week has the 4 fastest times by a boy runner in the state this fall. The boys were 17th overall in the large field while the girls we 11th. The girls were led by 8th Grader Verity Bishop in 51st followed closely behind by 6th Grader Lakyn Blair and 8th Grader Lucy Devers in 59th and 61st respectively. 6th grader Brooklyn Bollhoefer was 83rd as the only other runner to crack the Top 100. 8th grade boy Keaton Vetor was the only other boy to push the Top 100 finishing 108. The young Eagles compete in the Central Indiana Conference Championship next Saturday October 4th at Indiana Wesleyan University.
